The best seasons are spring (March–May) with fresh green mountains and blooming flowers, and autumn (September–November) with clear skies, excellent visibility and colorful foliage. Summer is green but rainy, while winter offers quiet, snowy peak scenery.
Zhangjiajie's main airport is Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport (DYG), with private airport pickup starting from $35. The drive to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park or central Zhangjiajie usually takes around 40-60 minutes depending on traffic and your destination.
For 1-2 travelers, a standard sedan is fine for city and scenic area transfers; for 3-5, a roomy SUV is much more comfortable for mountain roads.
