The best time to visit Sanya is October to April, with mild and dry weather, suitable temperatures, calm seas and perfect conditions for beach activities and sightseeing. From May to September it is hot and rainy with occasional typhoons, though it is also the off-season with lower prices and fewer crowds.
Sanya's main airport is SYX (Phoenix International Airport), with private airport pickup starting from $38. The drive to central Sanya and major bays usually takes around 20–40 minutes depending on traffic.
For 1-2 travelers, a standard sedan is fine for beach and city touring; for 3-5, a roomy MPV is much more comfortable. If you're combining Sanya bay views with a rainforest or island day trip, book a full-day car rather than separate transfers.
